ILOILO City – There were no more police officers positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) at the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO).
Captain Shella Mae Sangrines, ICPO spokesperson, announced this good news yesterday.
She said two police officers who tested positive for the viral illness two weeks ago yielded negative results in their latest reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction testing.
The results, according to Sangrines, were released last week.
She also disclosed that the 27 quarantined cops who had close contacts with the two police officers were also negative.
“They have certification from the Department of Health (DOH) that they were already cleared,” Sangrines said.
“The two policemen and the 27 others were, however, advised to continue their home quarantine. They will return to work after completing the quarantine,” she added.
Right after they tested positive for COVID-19, the two police were placed in an isolation facility.
The 32-year-old and 22-year-old policemen were all frontliners assigned in Mandurriao district.
One of them was detailed outside the Western Visayas Medical Center, a DOH-run hospital designated as the health facility for serious COVID-19 cases, while the other was detailed at a hotel that served as an isolation facility for repatriated overseas workers./PN
