BACOLOD City – A neighborhood in Barangay Singcang-Airport was placed under lockdown after one of the residents there was found out to be a carrier of SARS-coV-2, the virus which causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Singcang-Airport village head Rosinie Distrito confirmed that the asymptomatic male patient was already moved to a quarantine center in this city.
His result showing he was positive for the viral illness came out on July 4, Distrito said.
An apartment where the patient currently resides, at least 10 neighborhood houses and several nearby carinderias where sealed off, he added.
The lockdown also affected at least 35 individuals occupying the apartment.
Distrito said that the barangay will provide their needs while they are under lockdown
According to the village chairman, the 25-year-old patient was identified as an authorized person outside residence from Cebu.
He arrived via sea vessel through Tabuelan-Escalante route on June 25 and was immediately subjected to swab testing when he arrived at the provincial quarantine center in E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental.
But he submitted himself for quarantine at a staff house in Barangay Singcang-Airport.
Three persons who had close contact with the patient were also brought to the provincial quarantine center, the village chief added.
The City Health Office has rolled out contact tracing. Meanwhile, the City Inter-Agency Task Force against COVID-19 has yet to determine the work of the patient./PN
