MANILA – If plans will push through, Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts center Heinz Gabriel “Kobe” Demisana is transferring to University of the Philippines Integrated School Junior Maroons.
The Pontevedra, Negros Occidental-native told Panay News that he has already “verbally committed” to transfer to the Junior Maroons with just some details being ironed out to make it official.
“I know na itong paglipat ko sa UPIS ay God’s will for me to become a better basketball player,” the 6-foot-5 center said. “I will pray to God for guidance. I really need to sacrifice for my future and to help my family.”
“Malaking blessing para sa akin at sa family ko ito and I will make sure na worth it po ‘yung paglipat ko,” added Demisana, who will still have three years of eligibility for the Junior Maroons in UAAP juniors basketball.
Demisana, a former Jr. NBA standout, admitted that it will be a challenge for him at the Junior Maroons, a team that was at the cellar during the UAAP Season 82 competition winning just one out of 14 matches.
“Isa ‘yan sa challenges na nilo-look forward ko with UPIS. I am excited because I want to know what I can do to help the team,” he said. “Physically, I already started developing my body strength kasi alam ko po ‘yung mga players doon ay malalakas.”
Demisana played a key role in Thunderbolts’ championship in the NBTC Regional Championships in Ibajay, Aklan that earned them the right to represent Western Visayas in the NBTC National Finals, which was cancelled due to the coronavirus disease 2019./PN
