Iloilo City – University of Santo Tomas Tiger Cubs continues to shore up its roster ahead of UAAP Season 83 juniors basketball after landing two players from the Santa Clarita International School Primes.
UST head coach Aldin Ayo confirmed to Panay News over the weekend the Tiger Cubs commitments of Primes’ 6-foot-5 center Rogelle Alvaladejo and 6-foot-1 guard Michael Jose Jayme.
“These two players were good additions to the Tiger Cubs team of coach Jinino (Manansala),” Ayo said. “Since aligned na ang basketball program ng UST Tiger Cubs and Growling Tigers, it is like training them in preparation for the UST Tigers.”
Primes mentor Rodel Camacho, for his part, said that he is proud to see Alvaladejo and Jayme get recognized by Ayo as he is confident that the two will be well taken care of at the Tiger Cubs camp.
“As a coach, of course I am proud that their talents were recognized by UST and, knowing UST, they will surely take care of these two players not just in basketball but also on their academics,” Camacho said.
Alvaladejo and Jayme now join the growing list of Primes players who were recruited to play in UAAP aside from John Bryan Sajonia, who is currently in Far Eastern University Tamaraws’ Team B and Mark Jimenez was part of the FEU Baby Tamaraws.
Franc Steven Tono is also set to make his debut with the Colegio de San Juan de Letran Squires in the NCAA juniors basketball, while Ralph Bajon has committed to play for Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals in NCAA seniors division.
