ILOILO City – Nine persons were caught engaging in illegal cockfighting in Barangay Andagao, Kalibo, Aklan.
Police identified them as Rodrigo Calas, 60; Jay-R Colas, 34; Alex Medoza, 50; Delmar Marin, 21; Jonathan Zolina, 29; Jowin Adano, 27; Glen Pison, 31; Romeo Dela Cruz, 53; and Niño Pinos, 37 – all residents of the town.
Five game fowls and P6,480 bet money were recovered during the suspects’ apprehension around 7:40 p.m. on Aug. 9.
The suspects were detained in the custodial facility of the Kalibo municipal police station, facing charges for violation of Presidential Decree 449, or the Cockfighting Law of 1974./PN
