SAN JOSE, Antique –The number of active coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in this province rose to nine after the municipalities of Tibiao and Tobias Fornier recorded a confirmed case each.
This is according to the list of the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) as of Monday, Aug. 10.

“Tibiao logged its index or first COVID-19 case while it is already the second one for Tobias Fornier,” IPHO information officer Irene Dulduco said.

According to Dulduco, the Tibiao patient is 56-year-old locally stranded individual (LSI) while the Tobias Fornier case is a 26-year-old call canter agent.

Both of them underwent swab testing on Aug. 7 and got their confirmatory results on Aug 9.
Dulduco said the IPHO finds contract tracing for the both cases unnecessary as the LSI stayed in an isolation facility after she arrived from Marikina where she works as house helper while the call center agent – believed to have acquired the virus through local transmission – has not returned to his municipality because of his work in Iloilo City.

The other active COVID-19 cases in this province, meanwhile, are recorded in the towns of San Remigio and Sibalom with two each and in the municipalities of Bugasong, Libertad and here with one each.
As of Monday, Antique has 31 cumulative COVID-19 confirmed cases, of which 22 have already recovered.

Of the 22 recovered cases, 16 were considered to be local, four were returning overseas Filipinos while two were LSIs. (With a report from PNA/PN)
