BACOLOD City – Six persons were caught engaging in illegal gambling in Barangay Calumangan, Bago City, Negros Occidental.
They were Riessa Begasa, 33; Lorenz Paolo Panganiban, 32; John Baynosa, 18; Jharry Baraca, 31; Daniel Rojo, 58; and Joemar Garcia, 64, a police said.
The suspects – all residents of the village – were nabbed after police officers caught them playing pusoy and tong-its around 3:15 p.m. on Aug. 18.
Recovered from their possession were P990 bet money and two sets of playing cards.
The suspects were detained in the custodial facility of the Bago City police station, facing charges for violation of Presidential Decree 1602, which prescribes stiffer penalties on illegal gambling./PN
