ILOILO City – The regional office of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) in Barangay Quintin Salas, Jaro district begins a four-day lockdown today.
A male employee tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), said Regional Director Richard Osmeña.
The regional office would be decontaminated. Work of the office’s 45 employees resumes Monday next week, Aug. 31, said Osmeña.
While the office is on lockdown, Osmeña said he and his employees, including their security guards, would be swabbed and their specimens would be tested for the possible presence of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
“We’re doing this as a precaution…para safe kami tanan pati mga kliyente,” Osmeña told Panay News.
As to the COVID-positive employee, the director said the man was a resident of Iloilo province.
He declined to give specifics but said the employee was not showing signs and symptoms of the disease such as fever and cough and that this man was now being quarantined.
Osmeña said the employee may have contracted the virus from his neighborhood.
“Last week sige sia hambal sa akon nga may nag-positive in their barangay,” said Osmeña.
According to the director, he advised the employee to undergo swabbing for COVID testing.
The test result came out yesterday.
This is the first COVID-19 case at LTFRB-6, said Osmeña.
He assured the public that regional office employees were observing public health safety protocols – the wearing of facemask and face shield, observing physical distancing and washing of hands with disinfectant or soap and water./PN
