ILOILO City – Veteran broadcasters Don Dolido and John Sapio traded their home stations for RMN Iloilo.

This leaves RMN Iloilo’s noontime radio program uncontested as both are hosts of Bombo Radyo Iloilo and Aksyon Radyo Iloilo’s noontime programs.

Dolido, who served Bombo Radyo Iloilo for 21 years, reunites with former colleagues Henry Lumawag, Eric John Pamplona, Emerson Labrillaso, and Novie Guazo. He will retain his noontime slot as co-host of his radio batchmate, Ronel Sorbito in radio program “Targetanay sa Udto” aired daily from 12 noon to 2:30 p.m.

Dolido and Sorbito, along with eight other budding radio personalities, had joined the Florete-owned radio station in 1999.

Sapio, on the other hand, had served Aksyon Radyo Iloilo for 18 years. He crawled his way to broadcast prominence from being a field reporter to remarkable broadcast coverages like the coup attempt against President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and the 2005 Southeast Asian Games.

Sapio will co-host alongside Eric John Pamplona in the early morning program aired daily from 4 a.m. to 6 a.m.
“We are engaging the broadcast world with our 2-in-1 programming template, a signature innovation for the provincial radio stations we experimented a few years back. We are glad that the Ilonggos have grown receptive to the idea,” said Guazo, head of the programming department.

The entry of Dolido and Sapio is in time for the 68th Foundation Anniversary of Radio Mindanao Network on Aug. 28, 2020.

According to Station Manager Ronel Sorbito, “a major infrastructure face-lifting is currently being undertaken to improve our audience reach and eventually cover the whole of Panay and Guimaras iIslands. This plan could have been in place in July but travel restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic has delayed the plan.”

“This may be arguably the best team ever assembled in the modern history of radio in Iloilo. Hopefully, with the addition of the right people with right character, complimented with a very strong social media presence, RMN Iloilo will surely connect to various audiences across ages,” opined Guazo.

RMN Iloilo was relaunched in 2006 and has since emerged as the No. 1 radio station in Iloilo several times./PN
