Iloilo City records lowest single-day COVID cases

ILOILO City – This southern city added two more confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) yesterday – its lowest single-day case recording since March.

The two cases were both local transmission – one in Barangay Jalandoni Wilson, City Proper and the other in Barangay Taytay Zone II, City Proper (a call center employee) – according to Jeck Conlu, the city government’s COVID-19 team spokesperson.

Meanwhile, in two weeks from Aug. 10 to Aug.23, Iloilo City logged a total of 442 COVID-19 cases.

As disclosed by Mayor Jerry Treñas, the city recorded the following cases:

* Aug. 10 – 76

* Aug. 11 – 50

* Aug. 12 – 34

* Aug. 13 – 25

* Aug. 14 – 22

* Aug. 15 – 17

* Aug. 16 – 21

* Aug. 17 – 13

* Aug. 18 – 14

* Aug. 19 – 32

* Aug. 20 – 18

* Aug. 21 – 51

* Aug. 22 – 15

* Aug. 23 – 54

On Aug. 24, the city recorded 11 new cases. Also, a total of 23 barangays were either on total lockdown, surgical lockdown or strict home quarantine status. These were the following:

* City Proper – Barangay Duran on total lockdown; barangays Legaspi, Ortiz, Pala-Pala 2 (Zone 5 and 6), Barangay Veterans Village (Zone 3 and 4), and Barangay Rizal Estanzuela (Zone 1 and 3) on surgical lockdown; some houses in Barangay Tanza Bonifacio with confirmed COVID-19 cases on strict home quarantine

* Molo District – barangays East Timawa and Kasing-kasing on extended surgical lockdown; barangays Calumpang (Zone 8) and San Juan (Zones 1 and 4) on surgical lockdown; Barangay East Baluarte on strict home quarantine

* Arevalo District – Zone 14 of Barangay Calaparan on surgical lockdown

* Mandurriao District – houses with COVID-19 cases in barangays Bolilao and Bakhaw on strict home quarantine; Barangay Taft North on surgical lockdown

* Jaro District – Barangay Simon Ledesma on total lockdown including the Jaro Small Market; some houses in barangays Benedicto and Balabago on strict home quarantine; Barangay Tacas (NIA Compound) on extended surgical lockdown

* Lapuz – barangays Mansaya, Bo. Obrero and Sinikway on extended surgical lockdown/PN
