BACOLOD City – Lawyer and former city councilor Caesar Distrito sought prayers for the recovery of his brother battling coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) at the intensive care unit of a hospital in this city.
“With thousands of prayers, Masses being offered and petitions for his fast recovery, God is listening,” Caesar said.
He disclosed that his younger brother Rosinie – village chairman of Barangay Singcang-Airport – is still under sedated intubation.
“He is on ventilator but he is conscious and responsive through eye movements,” said Caesar.
To recall, Rosinie and his wife was found infected with COVID-19 on Aug. 19.
The couple requested for a swab test at the City Health Office on Aug. 15 after showing symptoms.
Caesar disclosed that Rosinie was exposed to a personal friend who was later found to be a COVID-19 carrier.
Also, Rosinie, he said, had close contact with an infected fellow barangay captain.
“The good news is his vital signs are stable. His heartbeat and blood pressure are normal. His oxygen level continuously improves,” Caesar said.
He further said osinie’s pneumonia was in both lungs and very delicate. The barangay chair also has diabetes and is taking insulin drugs.
Meanwhile, Rosinie’s wife, Jade is taking antibiotics and other medications for various COVID symptoms, according to Caesar.
“She is also in isolation but in much better condition compared before. We hope she will continue to recover,” the former councilor said.
Rosinie was the third barangay captain in this city to contract the viral illness. The two others were Ricky Mijares Sr. of Barangay Banago and Rodolfo Pico Jr. of Barangay Mansilingan.
Meanwhile, Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, head of the city Inter Agency Task Force against COVID-19, said Punong Barangay 2 Emelda Banguanga was hospitalized after showing of symptoms of COVID-19.
However, the result of his reverse transcription polymerase chain test is yet to be released as of this writing.
People can catch COVID-19 from others who have the virus. The disease can spread from person to person through small droplets from the nose or mouth which are spread when a person with COVID-19 coughs or exhales.
The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, tiredness and dry cough. Some patients may have aches and pains, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat or diarrhea. These symptoms are usually mild and begin gradually./PN
