BACOLOD City – Firearms were intercepted by authorities at Danao Port in Barangay Old Poblacion, Escalante City, Negros Occidental.
Eight .45-caliber pistols were seized from 53-year-old Janito Chua of Barangay La Granja, La Carlota City, Negros Occidental, a police report showed.
According to police investigators, the items were discovered inside a wing van carrying essential goods and driven by Chua around 4:30 a.m. on Aug. 29.
The vehicle came from Cebu province, the investigators added.
Chua was nabbed after he failed to present documents for the firearms. The suspect was detained in the custodial facility of the Escalante City police station, facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act./PN
