ILOILO City – Police Colonel Gilbert Gorero, the new Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) chief, reminded policemen to continue serving the people with dignity, discipline and integrity as they fight crime and illegal drugs.

Gorero assumed as the province’s top cop replacing Police Colonel Paul Kenneth Lucas during yesterday’s turnover ceremony at the Maringal Hall of Camp Delgado, the headquarters of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).

Kung tayo ay may dignidad, may respeto ang taong bayan. Kung may respeto ang taong bayan, madali humingi ng tulong sa kanila at mayroong cooperation,” Gorero said.

He added that being the province’s top cop is the most challenging role so far in his entire stint in the police force.

Hindi madali sundan ang footsteps of the outgoing IPPO director but I will do my best to continue his good programs. I will not make promises because promises are made to be broken,” Gorero said.

His assignment was contained in a special order from Camp Crame, No. NHQ-SO -URA-2020-5184.

Gorero, formerly the chief of the PRO-6’s Regional Plan and Strategy Management Division, was promoted to Police Colonel from Police Lieutenant Colonel just a few months ago.

His other focus would be internal cleansing of the IPPO and reformation of erring police personnel, citing PNP chief General Camilo Pancratius Cascolan’s main thrust.

For his part, PRO-6 director Police Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan congratulated Lucas for accomplishments during his eight-month stint in the province.

“I know that your new assignment is a higher position. You have been a good leader in the province,” Pamuspusan said.

For the new director, Pamuspusan expects Gorero to perform better and take the lead for IPPO.

“I trust Gorero. I know that he is a good leader,” he said./PN
