ROXAS City – Mayor Ronnie Dadivas urged his constituents to double precautions to protect themselves and especially senior citizens and other populations who are particularly vulnerable to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Likawan nga kita ang mangin rason sang ila pag antos kag kamatayon. Ang ila kaluwasan yara sa aton mga kamot,” Dadivas said.

The Sept. 18 data of the City Health Office showed that 16 out of 19 persons who succumbed to COVID-19 in the city are senior citizens.

According to the World Health Organization, COVID-19 can affect people of all ages.  But it’s older adults and those with serious health conditions, such as heart disease, diabetes or lung disease, who are most vulnerable.

Dadivas laid down health protocols for the families who have senior citizens at home.

He said that one should disinfect themselves by taking a bath before entering the house. Leave outside the house all the used clothes for the day as well as other things that were not disinfected.

The mayor also said that it is also important to have a separate room for elders as well as separate utensils and other personal things.

Complying with the minimum health protocols like wearing of facemask when dealing with elders is very important, Dadivas added.

Ang aton paghangay amo lamang ang ila paglaum agud makalampuwas sa sini nga pandemya,” the city mayor said.

As of Sept. 18, Roxas City has a total of 181 confirmed cases of COVID-19, 72 of which were active, 90 recovered and 19 died./PN
