BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental top cop Colonel Romy Palgue ordered the crime laboratory of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) to investigate the P13.5-million drug haul earlier this week in San Carlos City.

In a weekly online press briefer yesterday morning, Palgue said he wanted a purity test on the seized items.

He would also ask for a copy of the laboratory findings from recent drug hauls in Cebu City and in the town of Sibulan in Negros Oriental.

Palgue believed the three massive drug hauls were connected; the items recovered were all similarly packaged in Chinese tea bags.

The NOPPO director said the results of the purity test could help pinpoint their origin.

“We already have information as to where the drugs originated but we need to confirm the information via purity test,” Palgue said.

An estimated P27.6 million worth of shabu was seized in two separate anti-drug operations on Monday in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental and Sibulan, Negros Oriental.
On Sunday, police also seized P47.6 million worth of shabu in Cebu City. It was found that the drugs originated from San Carlos City./PN
