ILOILO City – Three individuals were arrested for illegal gambling in Barangay Mapatag, Hamtic, Antique.
They were Romulo Tarosa, 70; Emilia Guanco, 50; and Ma. Loida Silvestre, 67 – all residents of the said village, a police report showed.
Tarosa, Guanco and Silvestre were caught playing the illegal card game tong-its around3 p.m. on Oct. 12, the report added.
Policemen of Hamtic were patrolling the area when they chanced upon the three suspects.
A deck of playing cards, and P468 gambling money were recovered.
The suspects were taken to the municipal police station.
Charges for violating Presidential Decree 1602, which prescribes stiffer penalties on illegal gambling, will be filed against them./PN
