KALIBO, Aklan – The local government unit of the municipality of Tangalan, Aklan has tapped tricycle drivers and motorcycle riders to deliver and collect the printed modules of learners in the barangays.
This scheme eliminates face-to-face interaction between teachers and parents who are required to get the modules in school, thereby reducing the risk of spreading the coronavirus disease.
The Tangalan Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (TATODA) and motorcycle riders agreed to do the task.
A memorandum of agreement was signed between the Department of Education, municipal government and TATODA.
Mayor Gary Fuentes said this arrangement will also provide sustainable income to some 100 tricycle drivers and motorcycle riders.
The local government will pay TATODA and the motorcycle riders P10 for each module delivery (for each leaner). The more deliveries, the more the drivers earn.
The fund for this will be taken from the unexpended Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses of the municipal government’s General Fund.
Modular learning is the preferred learning modality of learners and teachers in this town for school year 2020-2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Tangalan, a fifth-class income municipality, is among the four towns in Aklan with no confirmed cases of coronavirus./PN
