SAN JOSE, Antique – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) advised the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) of Antique to temporarily close the Iloilo-Antique Road via Hamtic due to the threat of road depression in the said route.

The road depression was possibly caused by soil erosion in Barangay Igbucagay, Hamtic town due to heavy rains brought by Typhoon “Quinta” a few days ago.

In addition, “Quinta” also brought minor to moderate damages in some barangay roads in the province as reported by Engineer Inocencio Dajao, provincial engineer.

“As of this date kun ti-on gani nga tag-ururan ukon magdamol ang uran, usually ang aton nga karsada kag dalanun sa mga bukid kalabanan gina-wash out ang gravel roads,” Dajao said.

He added that there were minor landslides in La Rioja-Pandanan-Valderamma Road and Tamayoc-Cuyapiao Road but the Provincial Engineer’s Office (PEO) personnel already cleared and managed the area for it to be passable.

May report pa gid kita rugya sa Tobias Fornier nga ang aton karsada halin sa Tobias Fornier paadto sa Baras-anan Road may nag-erode nga mga four cubic meter kag gina-clear man rugto tulad kang aton mga kaminero,” he added.

Most of the major damages in the barangay roads were recorded in the municipality of Sibalom, added Dajao.

“Medyo bahul-bahul gawa nga damage along sa atun nga Nagdayao to Mabini Road, may portion kita rugto nga ang atun nga concrete road naglusbot gid tana so daw nag-usmud gid tana ka mga tunga sa metro so gina-manage namun to since unpassable to tana tulad, so temporary lang danay to nga gintampukan kag may portion man gali kita rugto sa Bontol nga reported man mga nag-usmud man. So, gintambakan to dayun kaina kang one truckload lang man, so kaya passable run man tana,” he further stated.

With these recorded incidents, Governor Cadiao reminded Antiqueños to always be on guard and be alert in the coming days as more typhoons are set to pass by the province. (Agripino John Patrick M. Ga-an, PIO-Antique/PN)
