MANILA – Kaya Futbol Club-Iloilo will aim to stretch their unbeaten run in the 2020 Philippines Football League (PFL) as they take on Stallion Laguna Football Club at the PFF National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite at 4:30 p.m. today.
The Iloilo City-based football club is currently on top of the standings with six points after notching its second straight triumph at the expense of Azkals Developmental Team last Saturday, 1-0, courtesy of a goal from Kenshiro Daniels.
Kaya-Iloilo head coach Yu Hoshide admitted that his team is still far from their full potential after being out of activity for almost half a year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“I’m happy for the three points and this clean sheet we got against the Azkals,” Hoshide said. “We are also thankful that there are no injuries since we need all the players fit for the season.”
Stallion Laguna, on the other hand, is raring to bounce back after suffering a stunning 1-2 defeat at the hands of PFL newcomer Maharlika Manila Football Club during their first game last Saturday.
“We just have to avoid the same mistakes and how to sustain our fitness for the entire 90 minutes,” said Stallion Laguna assistant coach Richard Leyble. “Without our three starters in our first 11 it was difficult for us. Malaking factor ‘yan. Kulang sa materyales.”
In the day’s other fixtures, Azkals Developmental Team and Mendiola 1991 FC will both aim for their first victory at 9 a.m. while defending champions United City FC eyes their third win against Maharlika Manila at 8:30 p.m./PN
