MANILA – Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters forward Calvin Abueva has vowed not to get himself in trouble again after recently making his Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) return with the lifting of his indefinite suspension.

The former San Sebastian College Golden Stags star anticipated that some of the Fuel Masters’ opponents will test his temper, but he already made sure that he will not lose his cool.

“Actually, challenge sa ‘kinyan. Expect ko nayan,” Abueva said. “Pero may reminders lagi ako sa nasa taas, keep focused and keep your game. Lagi kong iniisip na hindi gulo [ang hanap ko], iniisip ko lagi dito paano kami mananalo.”

Abueva was slapped with indefinite suspension last year for his clothesline hit on TNT Tropang Giga import Terrence Jones and a verbal altercation with the girlfriend of TNT player Bobby Ray Parks Jr.

After fulfilling the requirements from the PBA Commissioner’s Office and having his professional basketball license reinstated, commissioner Willie Marcial lifted Abueva’s ban last week.

“Thank you sa lahat ng mga sumusuporta sa akin, at thank you sa lahat ng nagdasal para sa akin,” Abueva said. “Talagang bigay-todo ako at dinoble ko effort ko para sa team ko.”

Meanwhile, Fuel Masters head coach Michael “Topex” Robinson expressed his delight over Abueva’s return.

“It’s really magical that he is here again,” Robinson said. “We just have to continue supporting Calvin because again, he’s part of us. He’s part of our family, and we’re always going to protect our family. We’re always going to be our brother’s keeper.”/PN
