ROXAS City – A theft suspect was arrested here.
Joel Cordilla was a resident of Masbate province.
A senior citizen operating a store in Barangay Banica positively identified him as the one who tried to snatch her money then hit her head with a hammer.
Barangay tanods and officials apprehended Cordilla and took him to the city police station.
The victim, 62-year-old Anita Adorio, was brought to the hospital.
Witnesses told the police Cordilla tried to snatch money from Adorio’s hands but the storeowner put up a fight, leading to the senior citizen’s hammering on the head.
The hammer used was one of the items being sold at Adorio’s store./PN
