ROXAS City – Five towns in Capiz province have no more active cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The Provincial Health Office’s (PHO) Nov. 10 data identified these towns as Dao, Dumalag, Jamindan, President Roxas, and Sapian.

Capiz has 16 towns, plus this city.

As of Tuesday, Capiz recorded 83 active cases, of which 49 were in Roxas City.

Other towns with active COVID-19 cases were the following:

* Pontevedra – 10

* Tapaz – six

* Dumarao – four

* Maayon – three

* Ivisan, Panay, Panitan, and Sigma – two cases each

* Cuartero, Mambusao, and Pilar – one case each

As to the clinical status of the active cases, 73 were symptomatic while 10 were asymptomatic.

Also, 10 were on home quarantine; 19 at municipal or city temporary treatment and monitoring facilities (TTMF); 18 at the provincial TTMF; and nine hospitalized.

Since its first case, Capiz recorded a total of 947 confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of Nov. 10. Of these, 83 cases (8.76 percent) remained active; 818 cases (86.38 percent) already recovered; and 46 (4.86 percent) died.

The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, tiredness, and dry cough.

Some patients may have aches and pains, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat or diarrhea. These symptoms are usually mild and begin gradually. Some people become infected but don’t develop any symptoms and don’t feel unwell.

Most people (about 80 percent) recover from the disease without needing special treatment, according to the World Health Organization.

Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like high blood pressure, heart problems or diabetes, are more likely to develop serious illness.

People can catch COVID-19 from others who have the virus. The disease can spread from person to person through small droplets from the nose or mouth which are spread when a person with COVID-19 coughs or exhales.

These droplets also land on objects and surfaces around the person. Other people then catch COVID-19 by touching these objects or surfaces, then touching their eyes, nose or mouth./PN
