DILG deploys 17 COVID contact tracers to Jordan

JORDAN, Guimaras – The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 6 deployed 17 contact tracers to this municipality in a bid to contain the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Aside from tracking suspected COVID-19 cases, the contact tracers will also be monitoring the pandemic situation in Jordan’s 14 barangays in coordination with village midwives.

The 14 barangays are Alaguisoc, Balcon Maravilla, Balcon Melliza, Bugnay, Buluangan, Espinosa, Hoskyn, Lawi, Morobuan, Poblacion, Rizal, San Miguel, Sinapsapan, and Santa Teresa.

As of Nov. 12, Jordan had 56 COVID-19 cases (cumulative data) of which 10 remained active. Forty-three cases already recovered while three died.

The 17 contact tracers were part of the 3,306 contact tracers hired by DILG and other government agencies for Region 6. Here’s the breakdown of their distribution:

* Aklan – 321  

* Antique – 233

* Capiz – 234 

* Guimaras – 120

* Iloilo – 800  

* Iloilo City – 245 

* Negros Occidental – 1,000

* Bacolod City – 341

They are also tasked to conduct interviews, profiling, and perform initial public health risk assessment of COVID-19 cases and the identified close contacts.

In hiring contact tracers, DILG set the following qualifications and “can dos”:

* skilled in data gathering and/or assist in research and documentation

 * able to interview COVID-19 cases and close contacts to gather data on travel history and conduct health assessment

 * must possess the ability to advocate health education

* have investigative capability

Their contracts end in December. They get a monthly salary of P18,784./PN
