MANILA – Ilonggo taekwondo jin Cyd Edryc Esmaña captured a silver medal during the 2020 Smart/MVPSF Online National Taekwondo CPJ Championship held over the weekend.
Esmaña, a standout from the Iloilo MVP Taekwondo Gym of head coach Denmark Pinggol, bagged home the runner-up prize of the tournament’s cadet male blackbelt category.
It was the second consecutive silver for Esmaña after finishing runner-up during the 2nd Lents Taekwondo Worldwide Online Poomsae Open 2020 last week.
Iloilo MVP Taekwondo Gym jins Justin Adrian Apura and Glaiza Fae Cordero contributed bronze medals each in the grade school male blackbelt and elementary grade school blackbelt respectively.
Other taekwondo jins from Pinggol’s stable in Julianna Martha Uy, Clyde Anthony Chua, Joshua Cachero, Niesha Kariz Pequierda and Jilyn Rose Yap also participated, but fell short of medal finishes.
Meanwhile, Julienne Beatriz Zapata of the Negros Taekwondo Union-Tigers New Gen also captured a silver medal in the grade school female category./PN
