MANILA – Former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has been appointed as Presidential Adviser on Clark Flagship Programs and Projects, Malacañang announced Thursday.

Spokesperson Harry Roque said President Rodrigo Duterte has already signed the appointment papers of Arroyo. The former House of Representatives Speaker will get a compensation rate of P1 per year.

“Her wisdom and vast experience as a former leader will be valuable as she would assist the admin in planning and execution of programs and projects to turn Clark as the next premier metropolis of Asia,” Roque said.

The Bases Conversion and Development Authority, meanwhile, welcomed Arroyo’s appointment as “her wisdom and gravitas will be invaluable in making the vision of Clark a reality.”

Apart from Arroyo, Roque also confirmed the appointment of Gilbert de la Cruz as permanent member of the Dangerous Drugs Board on Nov. 24, 2020

“The fight against illegal drugs is the centerpiece program of the Duterte administration. We therefore consider the appointment of Mr. Cruz as timely and relevant with his previous work at the PNP. We wish Mr. Cruz good luck in his new assignment,” Roque said.

Meanwhile, the Palace spokesperson also confirmed that Duterte signed the nomination of Ms. Aimee P. Ferolino-Ampoloquio as Commission on Elections Commissioner.

“With her vast experience in election matters, Ms. Ampoloquio, would certainly contribute in ensuring our elections would be honest, orderly, peaceful, and credible.  We wish Ms. Ampoloquio good luck in her future endeavors,” Roque said./PN
