MANILA – Ilonggo guard Ferdinand “Thirdy” Ravena III, who plays as reinforcement for the San-En NeoPhoenix in Japan B. League, tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
In a statement last night, NeoPhoenix said the former Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles guard started exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms on Thursday and is currently isolated in his apartment.
“On the morning of Nov. 26 (Thursday), he reported that he was in poor physical condition, and when the temperature was measured, a fever of 38.2 degrees Celsius was confirmed,” NeoPhoenix said.
“He reported to the Toyohashi City Health Center and at a designated medical institution under the direction of the Health Center,” the team added. “On Friday, his temperature has since dropped to 36.9 degrees Celsius, his sore throat had subsided, and his sense of taste and smell were normal.”
The 23-year-old Ravena played in a practice game against private club Kanazawa Samurai Team last Tuesday. He is set to undergo quarantine and will miss NeoPhoenix’s next match against Shimane Susanoo Magic on Dec. 2.
Ravena is averaging 12.0 points on 36-percent shooting, along with 4.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 23.7 minutes of action for the NeoPhoenix, which is currently at the cellar with a 2-13 win-loss record./PN
