BACOLOD City – The city government commended Patrick Joseph Mabugat for topping the 2020 Physician Licensure Examination.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia issued Executive Order (EO) No. 76, series of 2020 congratulating and commending Mabugat, who grabbed the No. 2 spot with a 88.58 percent rating.

“Patrick Joseph Mabugat is a source of pride for the city of Bacolod and serves both as an inspiration and role model for its youth,” part of Leonardia’s EO reads.

The 26-year-old resident of Barangay Alijis was a graduate of the University of Saint La Salle.

Mabugat, a son of a police officer, took his undergraduate studies at the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos and topped the September 2014 Medical Technology Board Examination with a rating of 90.90 percent.

“Mabugat has now joined the honorable ranks of prominent and distinguished physician board topnotchers, each being a shining beacon in the practice of medicine,” Leonardia stated in his EO.

Leonardia presented the framed copy of the EO to Mabugat during the latter’s courtesy call at the Bacolod City Government Center on Dec. 1.

Mabugat was accompanied by his fiancée, Dyan Dimalaluan of E. B. Magalona, Negros Occidental, who also passed the licensure exams.

For his part, Mabugat said, “We should do whatever we can to help one another, ease one another’s burden and stand with those who are poor and vulnerable.”

In this time of pandemic, Magubat said, “We must remember to give more to those with less.”

“It is my honor to share this success and blessing from God with my fellow Bacolodnons and Negrosanons,” he added./PN
