3,615 houses turned over to ‘Yolanda’ victims

MANILA – Seven years after typhoon “Yolanda” ravaged the Visayas, a total of 3,615 housing units under the Yolanda Permanent Housing Projects of National Housing Authority (NHA) were turned over recently in Ajuy, Iloilo.

The turnover of housing units was the biggest since August, according to Karlo Nograles, head of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Unified Implementation and Monitoring of Rehabilitation and Recovery Projects and Programs.

“We’re thankful to local government officials and staff led by Mayor Jett Roxas for their full support and cooperation in ensuring this project is finished and the free houses delivered to their constituents,” said Nograles.

The 19th virtual turnover of housing units was made in the following areas: Malayuan People’s Village Site 1, Malayuan People’s Village Site 2, Adcadarao People’s Village, Pili People’s Village Site 1, and Pili People’s Village Site 2.

As of October, 89,491 of the planned 123,535 housing units for Western Visayas have already been completed. The remaining 22,869 units are undergoing construction.

“Despite the pandemic, we will finish all pending Yolanda-related constructions. That’s the clear directive of the President Rodrigo Duterte,” Nograles said./PN
