BACOLOD City – Business process outsourcing (BPO) companies in this city are forgoing face-to-face Christmas parties.
Instead, they will celebrate virtually to prevent the transmission of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), said Dr. Chris Sorongon, deputy for medical services of the city’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
Last week in a virtual meeting with the EOC, officials of BPO companies vowed not to hold office holiday parties.
“We’re happy nga ang aton BPO firms nag-forgo sang traditional Christmas party gatherings,” Sorongon said.
In August and September, health authorities reported a spike in COVID-19 cases in BPO companies.
The infection rate, however, went down in November and this December, Sorongon said.
The physician also appealed to all BPO employees to minimize smoking during their break time as it increase the risk of contracting the viral illness./PN
