ILOILO City – A village head and four others were arrested for illegal cockfighting in Barangay Crispin Salazar South, Janiuay, Iloilo.
Police identified them as Stephen Baquilar, 41, village head of Barangay Tirador, Janiuay; Franque Mamon, 47; resident Rommel lentija, 32; resident Kyle Cañonero, 19; and Jules Eler, 27, of Barangay Jibolo, Janiuay.
The suspects were caught around 10:45 a.m. when the Janiuay police chance upon them.
Recovered from their possession were bet money amounting to P1,300 and two game fowls.
The five were taken to the municipal police station where they were detained. Charges for violation of Presidential Decree 449, or the Cockfighting Law of 1974 will be filed against them./PN
