12 Antique towns defer moratorium vs LSIs

SAN JOSE, Antique – There will be no moratorium on the return of locally stranded individuals (LSIs) in Antique this December.

The 12 towns which recently declared a moratorium deferred the plan after Gov. Rhodora Cadiao urged them to reconsider.

They will instead participate in the province-wide moratorium next month.

“Everybody can come home (this December). Mag-coordinate lang sa (ila) local government units,” Cadiao told Panay News.

Antiqueño LSIs must be allowed to spend the holidays with their families, she stressed.

“Kasi kawawa naman. Dami nawalan ng trabaho, daming gustong umuwi, daming wala pera. It is so sad to spend Christmas alone without money, so humanitarian in nature ang reason (of the moratorium),” said Cadiao.

Had the moratorium not been deferred, the following towns would have barred LSIs from returning on these dates:

* San Remigio – Dec. 11, 2020 to Jan. 3, 2021

* Sebaste – Dec. 10, 2020 to Jan. 10, 2021

* Caluya – Dec. 15, 2020 to Jan. 4, 2021

* Hamtic – Dec. 10, 2020 to Jan. 5, 2021

* Anini-y – Dec. 9, 2020 to Jan. 5, 2021

* Belison – Dec. 4, 2020 to Jan. 8, 2021

* Tibiao – Dec. 7, 2020 to Jan. 4, 2021

* Patnongon – Dec. 8, 2020 to Jan. 5, 2021

* Sibalom – Nov. 20, 2020 to Dec. 4, 2021

* Tobias Fornier – Dec. 9, 2020 to Jan. 3, 2021

* Culasi – Dec. 5, 2020 to Jan. 5, 2021

* Valderrama – Dec. 4, 2020 to Jan. 3, 2021

The moratorium would give them time to decongest and prepare their quarantine facilities for new batches of incoming LSIS.

As of Sunday, Dec. 6, Antique had 83 confirmed (cumulative) cases of coronavirus disease 2019 – three are active, 79 recovered and one dead./PN
