BACOLOD City – Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran warned businesses here not to fall prey to individuals using his name and placing fake food delivery orders.
A restaurant recently delivered food worth P12,000 to the vice mayor’s office only to find out nobody there ordered it.
This week, Familiaran said a water refilling station was also victimized.
Unidentified callers introduced themselves as the vice mayor. They even allegedly asked for prepaid cellphone credits worth P1,000.
“To business establishments here, please be extra careful. You may reach my personal Facebook account and telephone number (to verify),” Familiaran said.
As the threat of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) keeps people in their homes, delivery services have become essential.
However, some restaurants and food establishments have become victims of fake or prank bookings during months of community quarantine.
Familiaran lamented that local businesses are just getting back on their feet due the pandemic, yet some unscrupulous individuals still have time for these prank bookings.
He asked the Bacolod City Police Office to investigate the incident./PN
