ILOILO City – Job order and contractual workers in government will receive up to P3,000 in gratuity pay for their services this year.
In this city, Mayor Jerry Treñas requested the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) to hold a special session today to approve the one-time gratuity pay for all city hall job hires.
This is in accordance with President Rodrigo Duterte’s Administrative Order (AO) No. 38, which mandates the release of funds to cover the gratuity pay of job order and contractual workers for 2020.
Under Duterte’s order, all job order and contractual workers who have rendered at least four months of service as of Dec. 15, 2020 will receive a gratuity pay not exceeding P3,000 each.
There are around 3,000 job hire employees in the city government.
Those who served for less than four months will receive gratuity pay but on a pro-rata basis.
For his part, Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. said, “Ang aton local finance ma-meeting anay sila kag tumanan ta ang order.”
Based from the record of the provincial government, there are 2,266 job hires at the capitol.
A gratuity pay not exceeding P2,000 will be given to workers who served three months or more but less than four months, not exceeding P1,500 for those who served two months or more but less than three months, and not exceeding P1,000 for those who served for less than two months.
Covered by the President’s directive are those employed by national agencies, state universities and colleges, government-owned or controlled corporations and local water districts.
Funds needed to implement the order will be sourced from the respected budgets of the offices concerned.
Should it be insufficient, agencies may request additional funds from the Department of Budget and Management to be charged against the identified savings of such agencies./PN
