ATLANTA Hawks got their revenge on Brooklyn Nets following a 114-96 domination in their 2020-2021 National Basketball Associaton (NBA) Season at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, United States on Friday night (Saturday in the Philippines).
DeAndre Hunter top-scored with 23 points while Trae Young chipped in 21 points, seven assists and five rebounds as the Hawks rose to a 4-1 win-loss slate.
John Collins contributed 20 points, Clint Capela and Cam Reddish each had 12 points while Kevin Huerter ended up with 10 points for the Eastern Conference-leading Hawks.
Kevin Durant tallied 28 points, Kyrie Irving had double-double 18 points and 11 rebounds while Joe Harris ended up with 12 points as the Nets slumped to a 3-3 record.
Meanwhile, defending champions Los Angeles Lakers leaned on an 8-0 finishing kick to repeat over San Antonio Spurs, 109-103, at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas.
Down 100-103, Anthony Davis kick started Lakersā run with a game-tying triple before Kyle Kuzma and LeBron James converted go-ahead hits for a 107-103 count. Davis later sealed the win with two free throws.
Davis capped the match with double-double 34 points and 11 rebounds while James finished with triple-double 26 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists for the 5-1 Lakers.
Detroit Pistons (1-4) notched their first win of the season after taking down Boston Celtics (3-3), 96-93. Jerami Grant led the Pistons with 27 points while rookie Saddiq Bey and Derrick Rose added 17 each.
Memphis Grizzlies (2-3) got back to their winning ways with a 108-93 win over Charlotte Hornets (2-3). Dillon Brooks tallied 21 points while Kyle Anderson added double-double 18 points and 11 rebounds.
Dallas Mavericks (2-3) cruised to a 93-83 decision over Miami Heat (2-3). Luka Doncic top-scored with 27 points to go along with 15 rebounds and seven assists while Tim Hardaway Jr added 18 markers./PN
