BACOLOD City – A stepfather has been tagged the suspect in the rape-slay of a 14-year-old girl in Barangay Rizal, Sagay City, Negros Occidental.
Policemen of Sagay nabbed the 40-year-old Elias Granciso of Barangay Celestino Villacin, Sagay City in a manhunt operation over the weekend.
Police Major Albert Sy, Sagay City’s top cop, said it was Granciso who reported the discovery of her stepdaughter’s lifeless body in a sugarcane plantation in Barangay Rizal around 5 p.m. on Jan. 1. Granciso claimed that the victim committed suicide.
However, Sy said witnesses testified that Granciso was the one who committed the crime.
Granciso, for his part, denied the accusations. He was placed under the custody of the Sagay City police station while the investigation was ongoing./PN
