MANILA – Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors have committed to stay with the Philippine Superliga (PSL) for the 2021 season amid rumors that they are moving to rival Premier Volleyball League (PVL).
Lady Realtors assistant general manager Von Mojado did not confirm nor deny social media rumors that they are mulling a PVL move, but has made sure that they will remain with PSL this year.
“As of this moment, Sta. Lucia is still committed to play in the PSL,” Mojado said, adding that they are fielding two to three teams in the Beach Volleyball Challenge Cup set between Feb. 25 and 27 in Subic.
The Lady Realtors, which made their PSL debut in the 2017 season, are also looking forward to return to action in the All-Filipino Conference in March, Mojado added.
Last year, the Lady Realtors had high hopes after securing the services of star middle blocker Mika Reyes and Canadian spiker Shainah Joseph as import.
The Lady Realtors started the 2020 season with a runner-up finish to Japan Selection team in a three-day preseason event and took the early 2-0 lead in the PSL Grand Prix before it was cancelled due to coronavirus pandemic.
The Lady Realtors will be one of the five teams remaining in the PSL for the 2021 season aside from F2 Logistics Cargo Movers, Cignal HD Spikers, Chery Tiggo, and PLDT Home Fibr Hitters.
Many-time PSL champions Petron Blaze Spikers, Generika-Ayala Lifesavers and Marinerang Pilipina Lady Skippers had taken a one-year pandemic-related leave of absence from the league./PN
