‘Protocol officers’ a must in beach resorts

ILOILO – To ensure that health safety protocols against the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) are followed such as the wearing of facemask and physical distancing, among others, Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. reminded operators of beach resorts and tourism-related enterprises to designate “protocol officers.”

According to Defensor, he received reports that some beach resorts were becoming lax in implementing the minimum health standards.

“Nakabutang sa aton executive order nga dapat ang mga establishments may protocol officers nga gina-assign nga manaway kag mag-advice sa mga tawo,” Defensor said.

The governor was referring to Executive Order No. 183-G, Series of 2020 that implemented additional and adjusted community quarantine measures on movement of persons, minimum public health standards in establishments, industries and livelihood sectors, and public event and gatherings.

Defensor further said it’s up to resort managements how many protocol officers will be designated to ensure the compliance of guests.

While their operations are allowed under general community quarantine, Defensor reiterated that resorts should not lower their guards against COVID-19.

As part of added precautionary measures, Defensor also reminded restaurants to install plastic barriers on every table.

“Sige-sige aton pangayo sang pag-intindi sa mga tawo kay kon indi pag-ugyonan ang ginapangayo nga pag-balanse mabutang sa kanugon ang ginpangabudlayan ta tanan,” the governor said.

As of Jan. 9, the province had a total of 3,157 confirmed COVID-19 cases – 329 of which were active, 2,733 recovered and 95 died./PN
