JORDAN, Guimaras – Drugmart pharmacy in Barangay San Miguel here was locked down beginning Jan. 12. A staff tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Mayor Ruben Corpuz ordered the lockdown through Executive Order (EO) No. 04, Series of 2021. He did not give a date when it would be lifted.

“A thorough contact tracing will be implemented and all direct contacts shall be swabbed and undergo home quarantine,” part of the EO read.

Here are the other provisions of the EO:

* All individuals in the said location are not allowed to go out and shall undergo strict quarantine for 14 days.

* Only the health personnel from the Municipal Health Team are allowed to contact the individuals in the location for constant monitoring.

* Food supply will be provided by the municipal government of Jordan for the duration of the lockdown.

How the COVID-19-positive pharmacy staff got the virus remains unclear. But sources said the staff was frequently going to the hospital for checkup.

As of Wednesday, Jan. 13, Jordan’s recorded COVID-19 cases hit 90 since monitoring started in March last year.

But with 81 cases having recovered and four that died, Jordan’s current active COVID-19 cases were down to just five./PN
