SAN JOSE, Antique – A man, his wife and their three sons all contracted SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), in Hamtic, Antique.
Mayor Julius Pacificador confirmed these five new cases in his town on Jan. 13.
The father was 53 years old while the mother was 50. Their sons were 23, 16 and 13 years old.
These Hamtic COVID-19 cases were also Antique’s cases No. 92, 93, 94, 95 and 96.
Pacificador said all the five family members were not showing signs and symptoms of COVID-19 such as fever, sore throat and cough, among others.
They are currently on home quarantine and being monitored by the Municipal Health Office.
Pacificador ordered contact tracing to prevent the further spread of COVID-19 in his town.
He also issued a reminder: “I am appealing to all Hamticanons to follow the COVID-19 health protocols we set.”
These were the wearing of facemask and face shield, physical distancing and proper washing of hands.
As of Jan. 14, Antique’s confirmed cases of COVID-19 (since recording started in March last year) reached 100 of which 88 already recovered and one died, thus leaving the province with just 11 active cases./PN
