JORDAN, Guimaras – As of Jan. 19, the towns of Buenavista, San Lorenzo and Nueva Valencia in Guimaras province remained free from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). They did not have active cases of the viral illness.
Guimaras’ eight remaining active COVID-19 cases were in the municipalities of Jordan (six) and Sibunag (two).
In Jordan, the active COVID-19 cases were in barangays San Miguel and Sta. Teresa while in Sibunag, the active cases were in Barangay Tanglad.
The provincial government of Guimaras hoped no more residents of the island would contract SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
To date, Guimaras’ cumulative COVID-19 cases (since recording started March last year) were at 255 (eight active; 243 recovered; fourth dead).
Vice Gov. John Edward Gando reminded Guimrasnons to continue observing the minimum health standards – physical distancing, wearing of facemask and face shield, and proper hand washing.
In Western Visayas, Guimaras had the second lowest number of COVID-19 cases recorded, as of Jan. 19. The first was Antique province (102).
