ILOILO City – The daily number of newly confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Western Visayas returned to triple digits.
On Jan 21, the region logged 108 additional infections as reflected in the COVID-19 Regional Case Bulletin No. 300 of the Department of Health (DOH) 6.
At 72, Iloilo province had the most number of infections. Iloilo City followed with 17, Bacolod City (eight), Capiz (six), and Aklan (five).
Meanwhile, the provinces of Antique, Guimaras and Negros Occidental have zero case each.
The new COVID-19 cases brought to 883 the region’s total active cases and pushing further the total cumulative cases to 22, 544.
As to the disposition of the active cases, 70. 78 percent were asymptomatic, 22.88 percent were mild, and 6.34 percent were severe.
Iloilo province topped the list with most number of active cases with 252 followed by Iloilo City with 193.
Negros Occidental came in third with 163, followed by Bacolod City 117, Aklan 93, Capiz 38, Antique 20, and Guimaras 7.
So far, 20, 967 Western Visayans have completely recovered from COVID-19. But there were 688 who succumbed to the viral illness./PN
