Bizman loses P300K to robbers

ILOILO City – A businessman lost P300,000 to unidentified robbers in Barangay Poblacion Ilaud, Zarraga, Iloilo. 

The 37-year-old Joemar Superal was on his way home when waylaid by three armed men on a motorcycle around 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 23, according to Lieutenant Johnny Arnad, Zarraga police chief.

At the time, the victim – a resident of Villa Carmela in the said village – was also on board a motorcycle.

At gunpoint, the armed man wearing facemasks ordered Superal to hand over his bag containing cash and two cellular phones.

Arnad said the victim owned a kiosk at the town’s public market and always brought money.

For his part, Colonel Gilbert Gorero, provincial police chief, ordered his men to intensify police presence in places of convergence and business establishments.

Policemen were likewise instructed to utilize the Barangay Intelligence Network and force multipliers.

Gorero ruled out the presence of organized robbery groups in the province./PN
