ILOILO – The municipal hall of Pavia is off limits to the public today. The building would be disinfected.
An employee of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Iloilo assigned at the local government unit of Pavia got infected with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Mayor Laurence Anthony Gorriceta immediately suspended all work at the municipal hall yesterday afternoon and ordered it closed.
“All offices will be closed until Tuesday for everyone’s safety,” said Gorriceta, adding regular office hours will resume Wednesday.
The asymptomatic patient visited the town hall last week to follow up documents. She was placed under strict home quarantine.
According to Gorriceta, she was among the 23 DILG-Iloilo employees who tested positive for COVID-19.
Apart from Pavia, the municipal hall of Barotac Nuevo was also closed for disinfection yesterday until today.
Mayor Bryant Paul Biron said a personnel of a national government agency assigned to his local government unit tested positive for COVID-19.
“Our Rural Health Unit immediately conducted contact tracing and recommended disinfection of the new municipal building. All close contacts are required to undergo strict quarantine and swabbing,” Biron said./PN
