MANILA – Sen. Christopher Lawrence Go had no plans to seek for a higher position next presidential elections.

“Count me out po,” Go said on Saturday when asked if he was gunning for a higher position in 2022 national elections.

Wag niyo po ako isama sa usapang eleksyon. Ang importante po ay malampasan muna natin ang pandemya, dahil kung hindi natin malampasan ang pandemyang ito wala na pong eleksyon na pag-uusapan,” he added.

For now, Go said his focus is addressing the pandemic.

Importante po ngayon buhay tayo at makabalik sa normal na pamumuhay. ‘Wag natin pag-usapan ang pulitika,” the former special assistant of President Rodrigo Duterte said.

In a December 2020 Pulse Asia survey, Go was among the potential contender for next year’s presidential race with Presidential daughter Sara Duterte-Carpio leading.

This is not the first time the senator denied that he was aspiring for a higher position next election.

In February 2020, President Duterte issued a statement that Go aims to be the next president but Go said it was just a joke.

Go also made the same denial in 2018 when teased by the president to run for senator in 2019 elections. Later that year, Go announced his interest in the senatorial spot./PN
