SAN JOSE, Antique – The municipal government of Caluya, Antique is allotting P10 million for the procurement of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccines.
The Caluya Municipal Inter-Agency Task Force recommended this “initial fund” during a meeting on Feb. 4, said Mayor Rigil Kent G. Lim.
Priority sectors for free vaccination were also identified – frontline healthcare workers, barangay volunteer workers, senior citizens, and persons with comorbidities.
How would the local government unit of Caluya go about procuring COVID-19 vaccines?
Lim said they would be waiting for the provincial government’s course of action.
The capitol, which allotted P10 million for COVID-19 vaccines, may decide to purchase for Antique’s 18 municipalities.
Caluya is a first-class municipality in Antique. According to the 2015 census, it had a population of 35,496 people, making it the sixth most populous municipality in the province.
Gov. Rhodora Cadiao earlier encouraged local government units to set aside a budget for COVID-19 vaccination. The following towns right away heeded:
* Belison – P7 million
* Tobias Fornier – P1 million
* Sebaste – P1 million
* Libertad – P2.4 million
* Hamtic – P1.5 million
* Anini-y – P1 million
* Laua-an – P5 million
* Barbaza – P2 million
* Caluya – P10 million
* San Remigio – P3 million
* Bugasong – P2 million
* Patnongon – P2 million
As of Feb. 7, Antique had one active COVID-19 case and one death.
The province recorded a total of 105 cases of COVID-19 since recording started in March last year. One hundred three cases recovered, data from the Department of Health Region 6 showed./PN
