HIMAMAYLAN City – Police and the military arrested a suspected New People’s Army (NPA) member in Purok 1, Barangay Carabalan here at around 6 a.m. on Feb. 24.
Dexter Almuete, a 25-year-old laborer, was believed to be connected with the NPA’s Cental Negros 2 / Sentro De Gravedad Platoon and involved in an ambush on April 19, 2020 in Sitio Tugas, Barangay Carabalan.
That ambush killed 2nd Lieutenant Ralf Amante Abibico, Private First Class Carl Venice Bustamante and Corporal Joel Nobleza, all members of 94th Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army.
Almuete’s arrest warrant for three counts of homicide – with bail recommended at P120,000 for each count – was issued by Acting Presiding Judge Walter Zorilla of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 56 jus this Feb. 3.
He was taken to the Himamaylan City police station./PN
