92 Concepcion households on surgical lockdown

ILOILO – Ninety-two households in Gawad Kalinga (GK) Immaculate Concepcion and GK Chicago Village in Barangay Loong, Concepcion, Iloilo were placed on a five-day surgical lockdown to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

According to Mayor Raul Banias, more close contacts of the two first generation contacts of the index case have been identified.

The index case – a 32-year-old female resident – was currently admitted at the Sara District Hospital in Sara, Iloilo.

In an executive order (EO), Banias said the surgical lockdown started on Feb. 27 and will last until March 3, “or lifted earlier or later to be determined by the COVID Medical Team.”

The mayor also ordered the following:

* transfer the first generation contacts to the Concepcion Kontra COVID-19 isolation facility for quarantine, medical observation and swabbing

* direct barangay officials, barangay tanods and the police to strictly monitor compliance to the lockdown and to refer to previous EO issuances as to the exemptions to the lockdown

* direct the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and Municipal Social Welfare Field Office to deliver  family food packs to affected households and procure additional food packs if necessary; and

* direct the municipal police station to supervise lockdown checkpoints in coordination with the watchmen of Barangay Loong./PN
