MBCCI backs new uniform travel protocols

BACOLOD City – The Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI) supports the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases’ decision to have uniformed travel protocols across local government units (LGUs).

Frank Carbon, MBCCI chief executive officer, said the new protocols should have long been implemented to help local businesses recover amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

The MBCCI added that it has “more projects in store to boost the economy” of this city and the province of Negros Occidental.

Over the weekend, Malacañang announced the uniform travel protocols for land, air and sea.

Travelers would no longer be compelled to go on quarantine unless they exhibit symptoms upon arrival.

Despite the easing of restrictions, travelers should still follow minimum public health standards.

However, LGUs are given the option of making COVID-19 testing a requirement prior to travel. Testing will be limited to reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction tests./PN
