Are American elites planning something in Finland?

SEVERAL weeks ago, the American government approved the sale of several extended range guided missiles to the government of Finland. From the dsca.mil:

“The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Finland of Extended Range Guided Multiple Launch Rocket Systems and related equipment for an estimated cost of $91.2 million.  The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale today.”

Anyone with even a limited grasp of geopolitics know what the missile sales are all about: Russia. Any new missiles or military arsenal that goes into Finland will ultimately be pointed at their Eastern neighbor, and Russia knows this. The Russian Bear is rather alarmed by the new missile sales and have even stated as such.

The Russian Embassy to the United States has spoken via Twitter that the arm sales is “a step in the wrong direction aimed at raising regional tensions.”

Regional tension is diplomat speak for a potential arms race and espionage antics, and in this case, it’s the US that is starting trouble.

American foreign policy has long considered Putin’s Russia as a threat. It was revealed as much with the Trump-Russia collusion hoax through the Steele dossier. And now, that Trump is no longer in power, it seems that the American establishment has shifted gears, so to speak.

The latest arm sales to Finland seem to indicate this, and it may get worse. As the Russian embassy said, it is raising regional tensions, which is another way of saying that Russia will look to its arms buildup in the region.

From there, we could end up seeing the escalation of renewed Cold War era politics, except neither Russia nor the US no longer have the demographics or the economies for Cold War 2.

But has the US even considered that? Based on the missile sales, that’s unlikely./PN
