ILOILO City – To promote vaccination against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), a group of advocates launched the “Bakuna Iloilo” information campaign at the University of the Philippines Visayas-Iloilo City campus yesterday.
According to Dr. Marovi Ascalon Celis, one of the conveners and a member of “I am UP High” and UP Alumni Association, there is a gap in the reliable information on the COVID-19 vaccination that “needs to be filled”.
“We aim for factual, realistic information dissemination,” said Celis.
Yesterday’s launching was graced by several resource persons including Dr. Louie Tirador and the Iloilo provincial government’s Hospital Management Office chief Dr. Cynthia Cabangal-Ng.
Also joining them through Zoom and pre-recorded interview were Dr. Eileen Aniceto, Dr. Ronnie Samoro and Dr. Rodney Dofitas.
Celis said after the launching, there will be series of campaign activities.
“We will be using all possible social media platforms to reach out to everybody,” she said.
Samoro, meanwhile, emphasized that getting vaccinated is an individual’s moral responsibility though it is not mandatory./PN
